New Year's Eve's Eve

Oh yes, honeys, we are so close to 2011 & I have to start working on that lovely list of resolutions which I completely intend to fulfill but rarely do.  So far I'm thinking more blog entries, cutting down on the muck mouth (it's not very lady-like, you know), and working on some healthy habits.  I do believe I have to strategize a bit when it comes to eliminating the potty mouth since it has become pretty awful.  I am a fountain spewing George Carlin's 7 dirty words sans one word, which I still find completely vulgar.

But, yes, I hope everyone had a lovely holiday!   I actually had myself a White Christmas followed by some family snowball fights, which eventually turned into something like a football game with no football and all the tackling.  We are a hardcore family, I tell ya.  Speaking of family, here is my sister and I right before the Christmas Eve service.  My grandmother almost had a coronary seeing me in church for the first time in forever and I'm pretty sure my minister blinked a few times to make sure his eyes weren't deceiving him. Yeah, it has been that long.  Well, if I don't do another entry before the New Year, Happy New Year, honeys!

Even my dog is stylin'

coat: NY&Co, sweater: Motherhood, tank: Gap, jeans: Gap, boots: Avenue
I am getting my puppy & kitten fix.  Seriously, instant happiness booster.    So yes, let me introduce you to my lovely pooch Curly.  He was such a trooper today when I wrestled him into his jazzy Christmas collar.  My sister and I picked up some cute little things from the cats too, but that didn't go over as smoothly.  It caused me to have a flashback to the incident of Halloween 2009 when I put a tutu on my cat, Lula.  Lula+Tutu= crazy conniption fit.

Moving on!  Lots o' new stuff going on in this outfit.  New hair.  New sweater.  New boots!  These boots have barely left my feet since they came in the mail.  I, a lady of some whopping calves, often have trouble finding boots that can fit over some socks and pants.  Boy, did my luck change!  I came across this lovely plus-size clothing site Avenue when mosying around the internet on Cyber Monday.  These boots go over even some of my thicker-material pants with some ultra-plush socks, which makes me a happy girl with some toasty toes.

I am currently piecing together an entry on men's wear for women, so keep an eye out.   I'm personally pretty stoked.  'Til next time, honeys!

I done got my hair did.

Wow, that title was a little bit painful to type.  So, honeys, I just fought my way through the mall parking lot to get back home just in time for some super ugly weather.  Seriously, if you want to see people acting their worst, just head out to your closest mall on a Saturday afternoon close to Christmas and you will see what I mean.  Even I wasn't the most angelic, sweetest person ever. I might have even angrily yelled "Tis the season of giving, " and honked my horn when a meanie robbed me of my chance to get on the main road.  But yes, here is a little before/after of my new hair. I am quite happy with it if I do say so myself.  The lady even dyed my eyebrows.  I had to sit in a chair for 30 minutes looking like the love child of Groucho Marx and Sesame Street's Count Dracula.  And pardon the weird facial expressions.  I always get a little uncomfortable cheesing it when I take some pictures a la myspace (directions: hold out camera facing you at arms length.  fix hair. try not to look awkard. annnnd SHOOT.)

Holiday outfits for under 100 smackers (Pt. deux)

Here you have it, honeys. The second segment to "Holiday outfits for under 100 smackers." Yay! Seriously, I'm about to go out and by those satin bow heels and that edgy pyramid clutch. Well, I would if I didn't blow an entire paycheck on repairing my hair from a disastrous encounter with a bottle of at-home hair dye. Lesson learned. I, Emily Ann, am not a professional hairstylist and swear to never ever ever do such dreadful things to my hair ever again. A.) While the bottle stated "auburn," I got this horrendous red, almost red-violet color. B.) While being uber nervous about missing spots on my head, I spent way too much time with the dye on my hair. Now I have little frizzies all on top of my head. That day was a sad, sad day. My hair will mourn it in the years to come. But after a two hour sesh at Carmen! Carmen! Salon e Spa and a bill that made me wince a little, Jasmine, the goddess of hair color, got my hair lookin' super fine. Not to mention the complementary hot tea, amaaazing scalp massage (I nearly melted in my chair), and pretty darn nice discount for being a mall employee made me feel a little bit better about that dent in my checking account. Pictures coming soon! Now I'm off to work because apparently they don't understand what "put me on for one day this week because I have exams" means.  Oh, well.  'Til next time, honeys!

I am alive!

Hey, honeys!  Just wanted to pop in and say I am still here!  God, it seems like it has been forever since my last post.  I currently have half of an entry ready to go (another holiday outfit for under 100 smackers), I just have to round up another plus-size ensemble to include with the post.  Maybe an outfit post soon, too, if I can get myself out of sweatpants.  I know, sweatpants, yikes! But hey, I've had some wicked paper writing sessions so it's been just me and my computer hanging out. Good news is I just submitted one final, I have one more paper due next week, and a thesis due in January, so at least the load has lightened!  So yes, soon, possibly tomorrow, I will have for you a second segment of the "Holiday Outfits for under 100 smackers!"  But now I'm off to the hair dresser for them to undo the ungodly thing I did to my hair this weekend.  'Til next time, honeys!

Holiday outfits for under 100 smackers

G'day, honeys!  I honestly just rolled out of bed maybe twenty minutes ago?  I think it's fair to say I'm all caught up on sleep.  Realizing it has been nearly 5 days since my last post, I grabbed myself a quick cup o' joe (actually a lovely decaf chai tea latte, but cup o' joe sounds better), then plopped myself right down on the couch to start typing away.  So, I had recently received a request from the lovely Tayler to do some affordable outfits for the holiday season.

I figured this would be the first of the requests to tackle a.) the holiday season is here (yay!) and b.) she was just so enthusiastic with those two extra exclamation points!  So here you have it, the first outfits in the affordable holiday fashion series.
